WEBINAR ON DEMAND:

Brazil Economy in Brief – Q4 2021

Webinar Overview

Brazil's real GDP contracted for a second successive quarter in Q3, by a seasonally adjusted 0.1% q/q, following a revised fall of 0.4% q/q in Q2. Economic growth also slowed to 4% y/y in Q3, from 12.2% y/y in Q2, on the back of a low base effect, caused by the pandemic restrictions last year. The agricultural production plunged by 9% y/y in Q3, with crops such as corn and coffee undermined by adverse weather conditions. The general industry's output inched up by 1.3% y/y, while the activity in the services sector expanded by 5.8% y/y.

ISI Emerging Markets Group Brazil Research Economist, Adriano Morais, explores the performance of the economy in Q3 2021, and what the high-frequency indicators of the economy are signalling.
