However, in India, employment is difficult to track, due to a dearth of high-frequency, official, time-series data. Hence, there is an emergence of alternative data such as payroll statistics from government sources, and information collected by private employment exchanges. The Naukri JobSpeak Index brings us monthly data on the formal job market in India, which can, in turn, provide a glimpse of the economic activity in the country. The index also provides an insight into the long-term trends across various industries and sectors. In addition, the data can also shed light on employment patterns across cities, and by experience levels.
