WEBINAR ON DEMAND:

Building a USD 5tn Economy: The National Infrastructure Pipeline in India

Webinar Overview

India’s National Infrastructure Pipeline (NIP) is a comprehensive plan to construct world class infrastructure in the country, over next 5 to 7 years, with a total outlay of INR 111tn. The final report on NIP was launched in April 2020 and it ranges across multiple sectors, from agriculture to education. Out of these, the energy, and transportation sector account for more than half of the proposed total investments. In the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, the NIP will play an instrumental role in India’s recovery, since capital investments towards infrastructure have the highest fiscal multiplier effect on the GDP. The Prime Minister’s launch of ‘Gati Shakti’ – the new National Infrastructure Master Plan as a part of his Independence Day Speech on August 15, 2021, further reinforces the government’s focus on propelling growth through infrastructure development to become one of the fastest growing economies globally.

During this webinar, EMIS and CARE Advisory Research & Training (CART) assessed the National Infrastructure Pipeline in greater detail, the envisaged impact at the macro level, and its deep connections with the various sectors of the economy with a focus on renewable generation and roadways.
